Notice
for WinSpeed Users
Notice for WinSpeed Users WinSpeed has a new program version that incorporates the new nominations feature in Unikon firmware version 3.27 and 3.30. WinSpeed has abandoned the automatic method that was first built into WinSpeed for getting race data from the Unikon. Unikon customers are now required to use the most recent version of the (DOS v1.18) UNI.EXE administration software, in the C:\UNI folder, in order to get the required race data results. Although the automatic download feature in WinSpeed is still active, it has been abandoned and ignores the nomination information that it receives from the Unikon. The automatic downloading of race data in WinSpeed can still be used, but the nomination data will have to be entered manually. The "old" method (automatic download) is accessed from the main menu item in WinSpeed named "Race Data". There is a "new" method incorporated by WinSpeed that is used to gather race data from Unikon and other electronic clocks. This "new" method relies on files generated by another piece of software such as UNI.EXE. The "new" race data function is located in the main menu of WinSpeed named "Clocks". Click on the "Clocks" menu feature and then choose Unikon. If you do not have the latest version of UNI.EXE (1.18), a message will tell you that you need to have a more recent version of UNI.EXE. Other than that, you will be prompted to choose from which destination folder your race data has been stored. UNI.EXE will store the race data files in the C:\UNI folder by default. The only way to store the race data files in the A:\ (floppy) drive is to manually copy all the needed files to a floppy disk on your own. This information tutorial will focus on the default standard for UNI.EXE; that is the C:\UNI folder. 1) First
open the UNI.EXE program and enter the "Program Configuration/Default
Settings/System Set-up" menu section. Here you will fill in the
all of the fields, or leave the selections at the default settings.
Exit the screen with "F10". In WinSpeed go to the "Clocks" menu and click on "Unikon", click on "C:\UNI", click on "Loft Names", follow the instructions to match races in the clock with races in WinSpeed. You can then go to "Race Data" and click on "Clock Birds" to see the results including the nominations and calculated speed.
